Hello world,
Our last big event, the Winter Warmer, was a great success. The party was attended by people from all over the UK, Germany, France, Belgium, Africa and North America.
The next big events are currently being planned and organised: information will be posted here. Between events, the World Wide Welcome team are at St Columba’s Free Church every Sunday (11am and 6.30pm), making sure international students are welcomed and invited to a Scottish home for lunch.

Located at 1 Johnstone Terrace, St Columba Free Church is easy to find. We are situated in the heart of Edinburgh, immediately beside both Edinburgh Castle and the Grassmarket. This will be the rendezvous point for most World Wide Welcome events.

So far, the planned World Wide Welcome events for 2007 include:
Berry Picking - September 29th.
Beach Bonfire - November 5th. This event takes place on Guy Fawkes Night. Guy Fawkes unsuccessfully tried to destroy the Houses of Parliament in 1605. British people traditionally remember this event by staging big bonfires.
Christmas Event - December 14th. Join us for an evening of mulled wine, mince pies and carol singing.
In addition to these main events, we will be organising various other opportunities for international students to spend time with Scottish families in their homes. Please keep checking this website for further updates and details of later events.

The first World Wide Welcome event of 2007 has been scheduled for Saturday 29th September. The event will be Berry Picking: we will all be meeting at St Columba’s (1 Johnstone Terrace) and proceeding to Arthur’s Seat. After picking lots of berries there, we will go to Jane Mackenzie’s flat and make crumble and jam!
This will be a great opportunity for you to meet new people, go to an Edinburgh landmark and visit a Scottish home. We look forward to seeing you there.
